The Truth About Low Fat Diets
For a long time, people thought fat was the enemy, prompting the proliferation of low fat diets. Low fat diets rely on the premise that if you eat low fat foods, you'll eat fewer calories, and therefore lose weight. This made sense, since high fat foods are higher in calories, and some studies linked fat consumption with specific health problems. It makes sense that eating lower calorie foods would make you lose weight. The problem is that many high fat foods are good for you, since some types of fats are good, and many low fat foods are horrible for you, leading you to crave more. For instance, consider the cocktail, which is fat free but packed with calories due to the high sugar content.
Low fat diets can work if you can resist the high sugar foods and eat only the high fiber or high protein low fat foods. The problem with this is that many foods that are low in fat are also high in sugar, and sugar triggers the aforementioned insulin problem. High carb foods do not satisfy your hunger for long, and they also create cravings for more high carb foods, creating a cycle of eating more and more to satiate your cravings. The other problem with most low fat diets is they ignore the need for calorie control, and too many calories--no matter what kind of calories--results in fuel stored as fat. The healthy solution? Try to eat low fat foods that are also low in simple carbs, but supplement your diet with healthy fats such as polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat, the fats that contain Omega 3 and 6 acids. This means you can eat salmon, tuna, nuts, avocados, and olive oil, in moderation, of course.
Make sure you choose a diet plan that is based on calorie control, exercise, and wise menu planning. If you do choose a low fat diet plan, stay away from high sugar items, and emphasize high protein and high fiber foods.
Two studies have shown that the green coffee bean extract found in some Hydroxycut products promotes weight loss. Svetol, the green coffee extract used in Hydroxycut products, is found in Hydroxycut Hardcore, Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite, and Hydroxycut Acai.In a study funded by Iovate in 2010, 45 participants took Svetol while 45 got a placebo. All 90 participants ate a reduced-calorie diet and performed moderate exercise over the eight weeks. The result: Those who took Svetol lost an average of 3.7 pounds, compared to 1.25 pounds for those who got a placebo, according to the company.
